it's Thrusday!

Don't you mean, Thursday?  Nope!  Here in the pod, Thrusday is the day to post your drama threads.  I've often wondered why some other day of the week wasn't designated for this purpose.  I can only imagine we must get the drama out of our systems for the weekend, because peaing lessens over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

What are your favorite drama threads?

one of the peas is doing a giveaway!

of course I want to win it!  she has designed a precious line of fabrics, and you could win a fat quarter here:

if i win, i definitely want to make a quilt.  it would be perfect for a little girl.  pick me! pick me!  LOL

enter and give our fellow pea some greatly deserved love...

this word gets thrown around quite a bit in the pod, usually by someone saying "Not to be snarky, but..."

in fact, i had never heard this word before seeing it used on 2peas.  since then i have heard it, so maybe i was just more attuned to it at that point.  here's the info:

Rudely sarcastic or disrespectful; snide.
Informal unpleasant and scornful
[from sarcastic + nasty]
um, yeah, we have a lot of that going on! :D

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

this phrase is an alternative to saying WTF, and is an example of using military lingo.  today it is in honor of my dry socket.  i had a molar pulled yesterday and thought i was dealing with the pain pretty well until a couple of hours ago.  this is not right, i kept thinking.  then it hit me:  the dreaded dry socket!  you're not even supposed to get a dry socket this fast are you?  noooooooooo, but sure enough i looked in the mirror and my blood clot has gone AWOL. whiskey. tango. foxtrot.  why me?  i wish i could get it back!

it is rumored that compwalla started using this phrase around the pod, so thanks virginia!

here are all of the military code letters.  let's see what other fun phrases we can make with them...

A - Alpha
B - Bravo
C - Charlie
D - Delta
E - Echo

today's word

for anyone who missed this, i felt this was the perfect word for valentine's day...after all, what significant other wouldn't want to be presented with a crystal-decorated vag?  :-P

we owe this word and practice to jennifer love hewitt, who so kindly shared her intimate adornments publicly.  you can do it, too!  here's a how to:

and who WOULDN'T want jewels plastered to their freshly waxed nether region?  well, me, but i'm one who ends up with swollen, painful eyebrows after waxings.  hmmm...can you still do this after shaving?  just kidding... guys can do it too: have them try a custom penazzle!

This is our word of the day (or should I say phrase of the day).

This phrase can be used as an exclamation, outcry, curse, or an interjection.

Sweet Tiny Jamie, I hate it when they pull threads!

This phrase originated from the poorly recieved description of Jamie when she took over Melly's job.  I believe they said she was tiny and cute, but somehow we (the peas) twisted it into sweet tiny Jamie.  It stuck like glue!  Now that Jamie has been throwing her weight around (albeit slight), some are thinking she's not so sweet anymore.  Perhaps the phrase will evolve into a more sarcastic connotation, such as "bless your heart" has become.

Next time you want to exclaim, "For Pete's sake!" you know what to do.  We'll spread this into a worldwide phenomenon in no time.

if you've never watched this show, catch it on comedy central...daniel tosh is a comedian who has a show where he provides commentary on funny web videos.  he is HILARIOUS!  however, he is far from being politically correct...his brand of humor is not for those who are sensitive.  here's the link:

pretty soon you'll be singing What What In The Butt!

funniest facebook statuses

i started this thread almost a year ago, and have had many laughs because of it!  it's a great read when you just need a pick me up, and is constantly growing.

you know slower joe, right?  he was my inspiration for this.  i can't remember what his facebook status was exactly, but it made me laugh so hard i wondered what everyone else had, so thanks joe! :D

crotch buggy thread

this is one of my personal favorites.  i think i laughed so hard reading this thread i actually cried!  if you never saw it, it is a must read...and if you did read it, it's funny enough to revisit:

funny names

We always talk about funny baby names...Have y'all heard about the controversy over Harry Baals?  This man was a prominent political figure whose last name was pronounced BALLS.  For real.  His family claims that he was named before balls got the connotation it has now, and his family members have since changed the pronunciation.  Now they want to name a government building after him, but some people don't want it.  Here's the story:

I have come across some funny names during my years as a transcriptionist, such as William Crapps and Dr. Honey Mae Getubig.  You can't make this up!

I swear sometimes people should just change their last names, too! :D

and the first word of the day is clam jamming!

We learned a brand new phrase yesterday at the pod courtesy of this thread:

I'm still confused as to why this phrase was put on a Sponge Bob valentine (after all, he is a boy sponge, right?), but I certainly expanded my vocabulary!  For those of you who missed it, here's the urban dictionary definition:

Admittedly, this is not something I'm likely to use in conversation, but like so many NSBR terms I've learned, I'm sure it will come up again!

Maybe we can make a third definition for this term...What do you suggest?

Finally up and running...

Believe it or not, the blog name that got the most pea votes, "Bird Is The Word" was already taken, so I chose the second place L, M, N, O, Pea.  For those of you who don't know, on the epic Birdgate thread that was pulled, buried, or whatever term is appropriate, I suggested we do a Word-A-Day for the NSBR.  It was meant as a joke, but the peas seemed to like the idea.  However, the majority preferred a blog to an actual paper calendar, so here it will be!

In addition to our beloved "peaisms," there will be lots to make you laugh.  I'll be posting funny pictures, threads, videos, and anything else I can dig up to bring a smile to your face.  Additionally, there may be things that I just love and feel like posting about, such as recipe creations--or more likely duplication--an occasional book review if I can squeeze some reading time in, and definitely "freebie" notifications that I like to share (like the free 12 x 12 snapfish calendar I posted about on 2peas this morning).

You can say what you want here, as there will be no Sweet Tiny Jamie to pull threads when they really get going, BUT please no petty nastiness in the vein of the meat blog...It has been reincarnated, if you're into that...

Thanks for reading, and if you have any content you would like to see added here, let me know!
